Like any other county, there is alot to learn about Bulgaria. We will not attempt to be a comprehensive resource. However in time we will be adding a recommended book list that you may want to consider if you want to carry out some further reading.
Here we just want to offer you a flavor and provide a little background information before you start researching your trip!
Where is Bulgaria?
Where is Bulgaria exactly? This is often what I am asked when I talk about my property investments in Bulgaria. Here we have two maps of Bulgaria, the first is a detailed map of the country. The second map illustrates where Bulgaria sits within the context of Europe.
Veliko Turnovo is not marked on this map but is located in the centre of Bulgaria, halfway between Sofia and Burgas. We will be adding the exact location to this map soon.
Bulgaria has a 254 km coastline that runs along the Black Sea. The country is then bordered by Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Turkey.
There is a brilliant Bulgarian website that acts a lot like the UK AA route planner site. Use bgmaps.com to find the distance between different cities and to have a look in more detail at specific areas within Bulgaria. There is an English version available by clicking the Union flag in the top right hand corner.

This map illustrates all the countries (currently 27) that are members of the European Union. Bulgaria became a member of the EU in January 2007.
Bulgaria is approximately 3 hrs flight from the UK. There is an ever increasing number of airlines that are operating between the UK and Bulgaria, the majority of which arrive at Sofia International Airport.
